I picked up a nice lightly used Ariens zero turn with a 16.5 horse Briggs who's connecting rod buggered off and exited the block. So naturally, I removed the 23 hp Kohler V-twin from my perfectly functional mower to swap into the zero turn. What could go wrong?

Looks like fun. I realized last weekend that the body on my push mower is rusting to pieces. I don’t live in the rust belts, so I’ve never seen anything succumb to rust before. It’s a strange feeling.
I either need to source a new body or buy a new mower. It’s strange having a perfectly fine engine sitting in a rust heap of a body.

The Craftsman rider that's getting parted out wasn't in terrible shape, but I really hated operating it. The transmission was an oddball continuously variable unit similar to the foot pedal operated type, only it was a hand lever. And every time you tapped the brake it would pop the shifter to neutral. The steering was also very stiff and binding due to worn components. It just was not a fun machine.

Sundays for me during the summer normally consist of watching Formula 1 and then creating ever decreasing racing lines with my zero turn. It makes it more fun that way.

I spent years running front engine mowers. The first time I used a zero turn, I was ruined. I am pretty dang excited to mow with this thing!
